Destination Dining: The Pine Cone Diner

If you're hiding from the paparazzi there are some great out-of-the-way spots in California.

Point Reyes Station starts the list with breakfast or lunch at The Pine Cone Diner. Full Disclosure: I've met great friends and great strangers at The Pine Cone. A list of those great friends must include the house-made corned beef hash, a delightful fried oyster sandwich and chicken-fried steak like mama used to make. Actually mom, we need to talk.

The menu changes so you may have to find your own favorites. Seasonal, sustainably-raised veggies, fish, meat and poultry? Counter or picnic table? Yes. This is your place.

And hey, Cowgirl Creamery is right across the road. Make a day of it. You deserve it.
