Ramos House Cafe

If you're the kind of person who enjoys freshly prepared food made in part from a garden on premises and served up by a friendly staff then Ramos House Cafe is your kind of spot. If you also enjoy your meals in a beautiful and historic outdoor setting filled with trees, antiques and tea lights then Ramos House Cafe is your kind of spot. And if you are the kind of person who enjoys all of those things while people on horseback ride by on a historic street to one side of you and Amtrak trains come and go on the other as mission bells chime in the distance then Ramos House Cafe just might be your kind of spot.

It's my kind of spot.

Situated in San Juan Capistrano's historic Los Rios district, the Ramos House was built in 1881. In 1994 Chef/Owner John Q. Humphreys began living in the Ramos House and cooking wonderful food inside. Open from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Chef Humphreys and his staff bring that wonderful food to us all every day but Monday. On a recent visit I had the split pea soup with duck dumplings and lemon foam among all of the sights and sounds of a late morning in Los Rios. It was magical.

If you're the kind of person who enjoys history, beauty, and flavor come visit San Juan Capistrano and its Los Rios district. If you can, take the train. It's worth it.
