The Beers of Fall: Anchor Brewing's Big Leaf Maple
I have to confess to a bit of trepidation about this fall release by Anchor. After having found their summer beer less satisfying than their other beers had led me to expect would Anchor's fall beer be a fail or had the flood of craft beers available today left me a bit jaded?
Good news, everyone! I'm a jaded bastard! Anchor's Big Leaf Maple is not only a malty red with a bit of maple in the finish, it's also a good weight for cooler weather and pours a big, fluffy head to make your pint glass look cool too. I didn't find the "extraordinary depth and intriguing aroma" that Anchor's marketing department found in Big Leaf, but I'll likely enjoy a couple more before fall becomes winter.
