Voodoo Doughnut, Portland, OR

Palace of fine sugar.
Lo and behold, the palace of sugar. This is actually Voodoo Doughnut "2", in Portland's Northeast. The original is in the Southwest. There is a Voodoo Doughnut "3" in Eugene which we walked past - on our way to Sizzle Pie (location two, and that's another story).

We snuck in before rush hour on a cold fall morning and I took away two wee little small tiny-tiny baby doughnuts based on the baristas recommendation: (I couldn't make this up if I wanted to) "I don't eat doughnuts, but the staff seems to really like the blueberry."

You don't eat doughnuts? Not vegan enough for ya? Too much gluten? I didn't want to ask - it was too early and I'd only had the one coffee yet so I was still a bit foggy. Hipsters, get off my lawn!

The recommendation for the blueberry was a good one. The doughnut was of the cake variety - the dough essentially pound-cake with dried blueberries mixed in, deep fried then given a sugar frosting.

I picked out a chocolate cake doughnut with chocolate frosting and coconut flakes. This was almost too sweet to eat, but when I realized that I would be sitting on MAX - Portland's answer to regional light rail - for almost an hour I tucked in. By the time we were pulling into Hillsboro, OR I was crashing pretty hard.

The fleet.
Hipster before 9am, is that even a thing?
The horror, the horror (seen in a Seattle supermarket):

Mein Gott im Himmel!
I'll have what she's having:
